The Roman Temple was
discovered during renovations to the Casa da
Alcáçova and is now classified as national
monument. Archaeologists have excavated the site
and date it from the 1st century b.C.. when the
town of Santarém led it´s Roman name of
Scallabis or Praesidium Julium.
